Each testing session comprises two or more
tests. Score high enough on any one and you will be invited to
join. The test session costs $40 and you may pay with cash or
a check made out to American Mensa, Ltd. The total time for the
standard Mensa test battery is about two hours, with a brief
break in between the two tests. Staff, under the direction of
our Supervisory Psychologist at National, will grade the tests
and inform you in two to three weeks whether or not you qualify.
These tests are suitable for anyone age 14
or over, but those under 18 must arrive with a parent or legal
guardian who will sign a permission slip. That guardian does
not stay in the testing room, unless they, too, wish to test.
Photo ID is required. Reservations recommended; walk-ins welcome,
if there is room. You'll be filling out a registration form when
you arrive, so please allow time for this.
There are also other ways to qualify, namely,
pre-existing test scores. Go to the American
Mensa website. Here you will see a list of tests Mensa accepts
and the applicable years and scores. Contact the local Testing
Coordinator if further searching on that site doesn't answer
your questions.
